is working a small vegetation fire on Rancho Ave. at “K” St. Rancho Ave. is currently closed while we mop things up. Please avoid the area.

Do you have leftover paint around the house or taking up space in the garage? Drop it off at the Gonzales Center this Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 

Paint must be sealed and in its original container. 

What can you bring?

• Clear finishes (e.g., varnishes, shellac)
Thank you to the students from Concorde Career College for assisting us with our annual Multi Casualty Drill (MCI). The drill was held at Reche Canyon Convalescent Hospital in Colton.

On March 27th, Colton Fire members had the opportunity to stop by Alaia’s  house to congratulate her on having her last Chemotherapy treatment. This young lady is a warrior and we’re glad we had this opportunity.

Colton Fire is testing a new Class A/B fluorine-free firefighting foam.  This foam provides a great blanket for flammable liquid fires at .5% foam proportion and is effective at .1% on class A fires.

OES 330 along with Battalion 404 are currently battling the Airport Fire near Bishop, CA. The two units left last night as part of a Strike Team assignment along with four additional engines from the area. Colton Fire, Colton Police, CHP, San Bernardino County Fire and AMR responded to the WB10 freeway at Pepper Ave this afternoon for a possible jumper. Thankfully, Colton PD was able to talk the individual down and transported them to receive the help they need. Colton Fire units are clearing the scene of a residential structure fire in the 2000 blk of N. Rancho Ave. A single unit of eight sustained damage from the fire while crews prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent units. 
Mutual Aid was provided by Loma Linda, Redlands and San Bernardino County Fire.

Santa location update
Your Colton Firefighter's have been collaborating with the "Big Guy" Santa, and we have decided it was time for us to spread some Christmas Cheer. Our Parade of Lights will be returning, starting the week of Monday, December 13th around 6:00 PM.  Please remember that it is not safe for Santa to travel down cul-de-sacs, so please wait for him to drive by on a thru street.

...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 7 PM SUNDAY FOR STRONG GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY...

LOCATION...Portions of the Inland Empire, the San Bernardino mountain slopes, the Riverside County mountain slopes, the Santa Ana Mountains and inland Orange County.

WIND...Areas of northeast winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 45 to 55 mph. Isolated gusts 60 to 65 mph below the Cajon and San Gorgonio Passes, and near the coastal foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains.

HUMIDITY...Lowest humidity of 5 to 10 percent Sunday afternoon.

TIMING...Winds strengthen tonight, peak Sunday morning then begin to weaken Sunday afternoon. Relative humidity begins to decrease late Sunday morning with only marginal recovery Sunday night.

IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
